Pale & Dry

An XO as time
has shaped it.

  • No sugar
  • No caramel
  • No boisé

The first cru, and time. Our XO is a blend of Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, the first cru of the Cognac appellation, from our own vineyards in Lignières-Sonneville, Saint-Preuil, Ambleville and Criteuil-la-Magdeleine. On these chalk soils, Ugni Blanc gives fine, structured eaux-de-vie built for long ageing.

Distilled on the lees in our Charentais stills, with a cut taken as far as it can go, they age first in new French oak, then for a long time in our seasoned fûts roux. The youngest eau-de-vie in the blend is at least 14 years old.

Pale & Dry is our style. The Cognac appellation allows sweetness, colour or oakiness to be adjusted after ageing; we have chosen not to. Our XO is presented as the cask shaped it: only a little pure water, introduced slowly, brings it to 40% ABV. Its colour owes everything to oak and time.

Every Archambaud Cognac is Pale & Dry.

In the cellar, among the casks.
