Fine Champagne, from a single estate. Our VSOP blends our Grande and Petite Champagne eaux-de-vie, the two first crus of the appellation, with at least half Grande Champagne. All come from our own vineyards: Grande Champagne gives them structure, Petite Champagne, around Arthenac, its vibrant fruit.
The legal minimum for a VSOP is 4 years; the youngest eau-de-vie in ours is at least 7. Distilled on the lees in our Charentais stills, our eaux-de-vie spend time first in new French oak, then continue ageing in our seasoned fûts roux. The result is a melted texture, stewed fruits and candied citrus, to enjoy neat, on a single ice cube or in refined classics.
Pale & Dry is our style. The Cognac appellation allows sweetness, colour or oakiness to be adjusted after ageing; we have chosen not to. Our VSOP is presented as the cask shaped it: only a little pure water, introduced slowly, brings it to 40% ABV. Its colour owes everything to oak and time.
Every Archambaud Cognac is Pale & Dry.
