HERITAGE
A Family Estate Since 1791
Established as bouilleurs de cru in the heart of Grande Champagne, the Archambaud estate has remained family-owned and independent for over two centuries, cultivating vineyards across both Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne.
From its earliest days, our philosophy has been simple: full control of production from vineyard to bottle. Distillation and ageing have always taken place within the estate, ensuring consistency, terroir expression and long-term quality.
Over generations, techniques have evolved, yet the commitment to crafting structured, age-worthy Grande and Petite Champagne Cognac has remained constant. Decisions are guided by patience rather than volume, and by structure rather than immediacy.
Today, Johan and Axel Archambaud continue this lineage with a long-term dedication to precision distillation, vineyard integrity and measured ageing.

TERROIR
Grande & Petite Champagne
Our 70-hectare estate extends across both Grande and Petite Champagne — a rare position for a family-owned producer of our scale.
These vineyards are not only located within the two most prestigious crus of Cognac, but within highly regarded sectors known for structure, finesse and ageing potential.
In Grande Champagne, our parcels are situated in Criteuil, Lignières, Ambleville and Saint-Preuil — areas recognised for producing long-lived, structured eaux-de-vie.
In Petite Champagne, our holdings include historic plots in Arthenac and the Archiac sector, traditionally considered among the finest limestone terroirs of the cru.
Chalk-rich soils, deep root systems and natural water regulation allow Ugni Blanc to develop tension, elegance and remarkable longevity.
DISTILLATION
Precision in the Heart Cut
All our eaux-de-vie are distilled in traditional copper Charentais stills, using exclusively our own harvest.
We distil on the lees — neither more nor less — a deliberate choice that enhances aromatic depth and texture.
Slow heating and controlled runs allow for a precise selection of the heart cut. The “coupe de cœur” is intentionally drawn slightly lower, with just the right proportion of secondes, shaping structure and length rather than immediate softness.
No automation replaces sensory judgement. Each decision is guided by nose and experience, preserving purity, balance and ageing potential.
Much of the exotic character and persistence found in our cognacs originates at this stage.

AGEING
Time & French Oak
Ageing takes place predominantly in 350-litre French oak barrels, carefully selected for grain and structure.
A significant proportion of new oak is used to build framework and depth, balanced by the integration of our own seasoned “fûts roux” and older casks.
This equilibrium between fresh oak influence and controlled maturation allows our eaux-de-vie to gain complexity without losing precision.
Reductions are carried out progressively, in multiple stages, preserving texture and aromatic integrity.
Time is not a constraint but a deliberate tool — shaping structure, length and balance.
STEWARDSHIP
Certified Commitment
The estate is proudly double certified: HVE (High Environmental Value) and CEC (Cognac Environmental Certification).
These recognitions reflect a concrete, measured commitment to biodiversity, soil health and responsible vineyard management across our 70 hectares.

Living Soils & Biodiversity
Hedgerows have been replanted to restore natural ecological corridors.
Natural grass cover is managed without excess intervention, preserving soil life and limiting erosion.
During winter, sheep graze between the vines — a traditional and natural method that enriches soils while maintaining balance in the vineyard.

Long-Term Vision
Sustainability is not an added narrative but an integral part of estate management.
Each decision is guided by long-term soil vitality and the preservation of terroir expression for future generations.
